Through the gate first
Because Broadmoor is gated, the first thing to settle when you book is how the technician gets in: a name left at the gate, a code, or someone meeting the vehicle. Say also where it can wait while the work goes on, and whether the kitchen is reached by the front door or a service entrance.
What a warm refrigerator side usually means
With the freezer still frozen and the refrigerator drifting up, the fault sits on the refrigerator’s own circuit, since Sub-Zero’s combination built-ins run a separate compressor for each compartment. Air is the first suspect. A fresh-food fan wears out over the years and often turns noisy before it stops. On the 600-series built-ins it also depends on a switch the closed door presses, and a matching switch puts the interior light out. A light that stays on with the door shut adds heat of its own and points us at that switch.
The grille and the air behind it
A built-in’s condenser sits behind the grille. Sub-Zero’s schedule for clearing it falls between twice a year and once a year, with a soft brush and a vacuum rather than any chemical cleaner. Starved of air, the compressor works harder for less, and both compartments lose a little ground, most noticeably in warm weather. It is ruled out before anything costlier is.
