Weather on the water
Sub-Zero designs its indoor units for a room between 60 and 90°F, and says that while the room sits outside that range no repair will put the performance right. A floating home closed up through a cold snap can fall below it, and once a room reaches freezing, any unit connected to water risks damage to its supply line and water valve.
Damp air is a milder matter. The maker accepts some sweating on the outside of a Sub-Zero in humid rooms without air conditioning, but water that drips is not normal, and neither is sweating that arrives together with a warm cabinet.
Where an undercounter unit breathes
An undercounter Sub-Zero keeps its condenser behind the kickplate, down at floor level, where lint, dust and pet hair settle first. Sub-Zero asks for a clean every six to twelve months, sooner in a home with pets, and a unit that has gone a long while without one is where we begin. A door plainly ajar announces itself that way; a seal that has merely stopped gripping does not.
