When the fresh-food side gives up first
The typical call from here: the freezer is fine and the refrigerator is not. That split points away from the house wiring, because on Sub-Zero’s classic built-in combinations the two compartments have separate compressors and separate evaporators. Behind that pattern there is most often a stalled fan on the refrigerator side, or a door letting room air in. A sensor misreading comes after those, and a refrigerant fault after that.
The seal in the picture
The photograph shows a white gasket that has come away at the top corner of a stainless door. A gap like that is small to look at and costly to run: warm, damp air drifts in, the compressor works longer, and frost can start to form on the coil behind the panel. With the door shut, run a hand slowly around its edge; a cool draft or a visible gap is worth mentioning when you call.
Newer houses, the same questions
Plenty of kitchens on the ridge are fairly new, and a newer house does not change how the cabinet fails. What it can change is the approach: say when you book whether there is a gate or entry code, where to park and which door to use.
