Read the zones before you worry
A wine unit running warm has usually said so with a number first. Sub-Zero’s electronic wine controls accept settings from 34°F to 65°F, so confirm the zone has not simply been set high, and that no bottle neck or shelf is holding the door off its seal. After a load of new bottles, give it a day: Sub-Zero allows 24 hours for temperatures to recover, and a brand-new unit may bring one zone down before the other.
Air first, compressor last
What we usually find is air. The frame shows how we confirm it: a probe held between the racks of a two-door undercounter cabinet and read against the zone display, so the comparison is ours rather than the sensor’s. A fan that has slowed lets one zone drift; a condenser clogged at the base warms both. For a warm wine unit, Sub-Zero’s troubleshooting calls for a condenser cleaning when none has been done in the last three months. The sealed system is judged only once fans and condenser are ruled out.
The drive in
