Two different messages
The door ajar alarm is the beeping, with a flashing bell icon, and it concerns the door and nothing else. The word SERVICE flashing on the display is the control reporting excessive compressor run, which Sub-Zero treats as a possible cooling fault. The first is usually solved at the door; the second often needs a technician.
Why it happens after dark
The last opening of the day is often the careless one: a drawer nudged shut with a hip, a door closed on the corner of a box, and nobody opens it again for hours. How long does a Sub-Zero door have to stand open before the alarm sounds?
On the legacy Built-In (BI) cabinets it sounds 30 to 60 seconds after the door opens and cannot be adjusted. On current Classic (CL) cabinets and the integrated models the delay is set anywhere between 5 and 90 seconds, in five-second steps, and a Snooze key silences it until the door shuts.
Can I switch the alarm off so it stops waking the house?
On the classic built-ins the Alarm button turns it off, and the integrated models can disable it in their settings. We would leave it on. It is the only thing that notices a drawer left open overnight, and silencing it hides the cause.

Sub-Zero describes it as excessive compressor run, a possible cooling problem. With high temperatures it needs a technician.
