A built-in in a newer frame
Many of the Sub-Zeros here went into kitchens built or rebuilt in recent years, a townhome’s galley or a restored bungalow’s new kitchen, with the cabinetry drawn tight around the opening. A built-in is meant to sit flush, so its condenser relies on the fan behind the grille to move air across the coil and carry the heat away. When that fan motor wears, seizes or picks up something that stops its blade, the coil cannot shed heat, the compressor runs long and hot, and both sides drift upward together. A door that stopped a finger short
The other common pattern is simpler.
